Submitting Articles to The California Reader
Submissions related to all areas of literacy are welcomed by the editors. Manuscripts must be word-processed, double-spaced (maximum of ten pages inclusive of text, references, tables, and figures) and follow guidelines used in APA, sixth edition, and The Reading Teacher. Manuscripts must be submitted electronically via email to one of the editors. Manuscripts should include a complete title on page one (1) of the text, but no identification of the author or affiliation should appear in the title or elsewhere in the submitted manuscript. Use "author" or similar to ensure the submitted version is a blind copy. Four to five key words and an abstract of approximately 100-120 words are required. Please include a cover letter giving the full title of the manuscript, authors' names, authors' professional affiliation and complete address (including home and work phone numbers; email addresses). Indicate which author is the corresponding or lead author. Manuscripts are peer reviewed and the editors reserve the right to edit all copy. Each submission is sent to two members of the editorial advisory board for review and recommendations to the editors. The editors respond to the authors about the disposition of the manuscript in six to eight weeks based on the recommendations of the editorial advisory board and their reading of the manuscript.
In addition, The California Reader sometimes publishes short pieces, such as book reviews, poetry, or research notes. Please contact the editors with your ideas.
